Conversational Spanish at Baker Institute

Course Objectives


This course is a non-credit class especially designed by Ms. Arbizu-Sabater, and it is opened only to the staff and fellows of the Baker Institute to practice conversational Spanish, and to learn the various cultural nuances of this language. The course ran continuously from November 2006 until the end of April 2007, and the summer. Classes will be resumed in the Spring 2008.

Materials

Textbook: Sol y viento by VanPatten, Leeser, and Keating, McGraw-Hill, 2004, presents information on cultural topics relevant to the Spanish-speaking world.

Workbook: Manual de actividades que acompaña a Sol y viento. Volume1

Movie: Sol y viento

(A username and a password provided in class by the teacher are required)

Students are encouraged to practice audio/oral activities by using the following programs:

- Tell Me More (TMM) software program.  It can only be accessed at the Language Resource Center (LRC) inRayzor Hall.

- Language Media: Language by Country Websites.
