Sharing Experiences from Spanish-speaking Countries

Language Resource Center

MENU

RIC is a website where mainly Rice students enrolled in language classes, and others, can learn about Rice students study/volunteer/work abroad experiences. While abroad, Rice students will have access to a wiki, RICWIKI, to post and share their cultural and language-learning personal experiences in Spanish-speaking countries.

Students will be required to submit their contributions to RICWIKI in Spanish.   This will provide an excellent language and culture resource to classes in the Center for the Study of Languages.

The long term objective is to make this site available to interested present, past and future Rice students, for both posting and surfing.

Rice students can use this site to identify and evaluate opportunities and options for work/study/volunteer in Spanish-speaking countries or simply to become more familiar with Hispanic culture.

This site will differ from what is available on the Rice International programs website.

Acknowledgements

I would like to acknowledge the Center for the Study of Languages, the Language Resource Center, Claire Bartlett for believing in my project, Peggy Patterson for giving me feedback on RICWIKI, and especially Hajime Kumahata, our language technology consultant, whose teaching and guidance made this project possible. Also, thanks to those Rice students who kicked off the RICWIKI, such as some students from Engineers Without Borders, in the Nicaragua II project, Michael Puente, who worked for children in a PerĂº clinic, and Julia Lukomnik, who studied History and Sociology in Chile in the Fall 2008.
