Instructional materials:
You have to buy three books and three books only:

(1) Textbook: Integrated Chinese Level 1 Part 1, required, available in Rice Campus Store
(2) Workbook: Integrated Chinese Level 1 Part 1, required, available in Rice Campus Store
(3) Character Workbook: Integrated Chinese Level 1 Part 1, required, available in Rice Campus Store

Textbook comes in simplified character and traditional character editions/versions (i.e., in two different books, buy only one).
Workbook comes in simplified character and traditional character editions/versions (i.e., in two different books, buy only one).
Purchase only simplified or traditional, not both. Stick to one version. Simplified version is recommended.

Character Workbook itself contains both simplified and traditional characters.

For Audio CDs and Workbook DVDs  via LRC, click here. Availability of Multimedia CD-Roms online via LRC is being reviewed (i.e., currently not available online via LRC).  If you like to have your own copies, you can order them.

Evaluation

(a) Weekly homework due, such as ExTemplate exercises/quizzes 30%
(b) Class participation: skit performances, discussion, asking/answering questions 20%
(c) Midterm 25%
(d) Final 25%
(e) Attendance: 2 unexcused absences automatically lower your grade by one letter
