Content-based course in Spanish in which the student will be familiarized
with all the vocabulary and uses of the language necessary to deal with
scientific issues in the Spanish-speaking world. Activities in class will
include reading current scientific texts (mainly news), presentations, authentic
tasks and problems and special issues concerning the fields in which the
student is interested. We will also focus on everyday Spanish and some cross-cultural
topics in order to prepare the student for a possible internship in a Spanish-speaking
country.
Prerequisites: intermediate-mid level of Spanish
or permission of instructor. It is important to notice that Span313: Scientific Spanish I and a
particular solid backgroud in science are not a requirement for this
class.
Limited enrollment to 20.
This is a 3 credit course.
