Students are
not only encouraged to come to class every day but also to show a
positive attitude through an active class participation. A good
performance in class
includes the quality of your participation (e.g. some regular and brief
oral
reports on daily news in class), attentiveness, preparedness, interest
and
timely completion of all the assignments. Simply showing up in class is
not
enough to earn a good grade.
All
workbook exercises and lesson materials must be prepared before coming
to class according to the instructions detailed in the syllabus. There
will be daily homework assignments from the text, workbook or
supplementary material, which must be completed also before class. Some
homework will be collected, and/or graded at the discretion of the
instructor. Written assignments must be professionally typed and
submitted on time.
Spanish will be the language used in class. Any grammar review is not
included in the syllabus of this course and it will be your own
responsibility to show a good command of Spanish in all the activities
for the course. Any question or doubt will be welcome though, and
answered in class if the issue is interesting for the rest of the
class. If you consider that English is necessary for
a specific question or comment, make sure you come to talk to me after
class or during my office hours.
Make
sure you have at least one individual active participation in every
single class, this is the only way to ensure a good grade and advance
in your language learning. You will be given plenty of opportunities to
speak and participate in class, but it will ultimately depend on you to
make the best of this and practice your Spanish.
