    Assignment :  Complete (3) only Due on Monday 10/29/01

     1) Read the textbook and study the conversion rules (#1 -7 ) as shown in below  giving
            a couple of Katakana words as examples.

                                 example : Conversion Rule # 1 : Eng / r /, / l /    JAPA / r- / @
                                 example :  " Lisa " risa    T

      2) Work on [Review 1 & 2 ] ( answer key p. 22 )
 

      3) On Extemplate, write your name (given and family ), names of your family members, and  names of your friends
            and  submit it.
 


      L.2    Question :  Can you read and write place names in Katakana ?

     Assignment : Complete (3) only Due on  Thursday 11/15/01

      1) Read the textbook and study the conversion rules (#8 - 12 ) giving a couple of examples.
 

      2) Work on [Review 1, 2, 3, 4 ] (answer key p.40 )
 

      3) Referring to the rules #1 -12, write on Extemplate the names of your hometown, your dormitory or apartment,
            or campus buildings where your classes take place, your  favorite restaurants or shops,  etc.



      L.3   Question  : Can you read and write names of sports, colors, and foods  ?

      Assignment : Complete (2) only due on Friday 11/26/01

      1) Read the textbook and study the conversion rules (# 13 - 17 ) giving a couple  of examples.
 

      2) On Extemplate , work on Review 1 (p. 51), Review 2 (p. 56 ), Review 3 & 4 (p.57 -58 ) ( answer key p. 61  for review 1- 4 )
 



      L.4   Five remaining

     Assignment :

      1) Read the textbook and study the conversion rules (# 18 & 19 ) giving a  couple  of examples.

      2) Work on [Review 1 ] (answer key  p.84 )
 



II.  Innovative Pronunciation on Katakana

     Questions: on Extemplate, Complete (4) only due on Tuesday 12/4/01

              1)  What  does  "Innovative Pronunciation "  mean  ?
 

              2)  What  are six major Katakana symbols in this category ?
 

              3)  Write a couple example words in Katakana for each category .
 

              4)  Do your name (including names of your family and friends)  and places where you and
                    your family live at present need to be represented by this category  ?
                    If so, write those names, including place names, this time using innovative Katakana symbols.
 

              5)  Work on  Review  2  (p.74 )  (answer key  p.84 )
